Earlier this term I was asked to present to teachers in the cluster that may be moving to 1:1 iPads next year. During this presentation I briefly described how I planned my reading lessons and what they looked like in the classroom. Following this session I've created a screen cast of the process I follow in reading in my classroom.
Thank you Karen, this really supports the uLearn session that you and Helen presented. There are a number of teachers wanting to be more effective and visible with iPads in the Hornby Cluster so this will be good to support them.
ReplyDeleteThanks Mark. I'm glad this is helpful and if you can think of any other videos or screen recordings that would assist please don't hesitate to let me know. Often I'm not sure what would be helpful for others to see. Kind Regards, Karen
DeleteThanks for your feedback Madeline. Please let me know if there is anything in particular that they would find helpful as I'm happy to create screen recordings or short videos if they help. Kind Regards, Karen
ReplyDeleteHi Karen
ReplyDeleteLoved seeing this post.... your clarity around the tasks and the set up is invaluable and inspirational. Thanks for sharing .... your approach will make a significant difference to so many students! Fantastic work!
Thanks for your lovely feedback Sandy :)
DeleteKia Ora Karen
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your approach to reading at this level using digital technologies. I love the reading table... wish my Year 8s could get their lanky legs under one. We sprawl for comfort instead and that's not all bad. I like the use of a generic approach, tweaked accordingly. It makes efficient use of a resource.
Enjoy your end of term. B;-)
Thanks for your comment Bev :) I do admit my 5 year olds "sprawl" for comfort on the rugs or couches in my classroom too! Totally different from when I went to school.
DeleteKia ora Karen. Thank you for sharing this. Your example of visible learning in a 1:1 iPad classroom is amazing. I absolutly love the idea of adding in verbal instructions too. Fantastic work!
ReplyDeleteThanks Christina. Verbal instructions have made such a difference this year.
DeleteThank you Karen for sharing your ideas and practices. This gives me food for thought at how we continue to move forward at Yaldhurst Model School in Christchurch.
ReplyDeleteThanks Allan :)
DeleteHi Lynne, Thanks for your great feedback. I think there two blog posts will help with the recording of instructions. I use an external app, either Garage Band or Quickvoice (free). If you are still stuck, feel free to email me directly (kbelt@ptengland.school.nz) Kind Regards, Karen

Hi Karen - how are you? I've just shared this presentation with our DFI group in Tairawhiti so they can see some of the capability of Explain Everything in the classroom.Thank you for sharing!
ReplyDeleteOne of our Cohort Joanne from Makauri School is going to be teaching in a iPad 1:1 classroom next year and may get in touch with you for some pointers at some stage.
Hope all is well with you and the family in Rotorua.
